As of 6 September, 2,007 people have been vaccinated with Ervebo across six health zones in three provinces — Tshopo, Bas-Uélé and Ituri — as vaccination of health-care and frontline workers gets under way. WHO's Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization concluded on 19 August that the evidence is insufficient for programmatic use against Bundibugyo virus, whose efficacy in humans is unknown, so WHO recommends Ervebo only within a research protocol.
